Maratonul Clasic din Atena

A XXVIII-a ediţie a Maratonului Clasic din Atena După 2.500 de ani, istoria maratonului renaște la Atena MESAJUL ORGANIZATORILOR Maratonul Clasic din Atena nu este doar un eveniment atletic de importanță internațională, o cursă dificilă pentru puțini, un parcurs de 42.195 de metri. Mai mult decât orice, Maratonul Clasic din Atena este o punte care unește legenda cu istoria și vădește forța voinței umane și pe cea a sufletului. Reprezintă un receptacul de valori, conștiință socială, sensibilitate față de mediul înconjurător, prietenie și solidaritate. În 2010 vom sărbători la Atena 2.500 de ani de la Lupta de la Marathon cu o întrecere singulară, care va reprezenta un punct de cotitură în evoluția maratonului. Dacă cineva ar întreba ce s-a întâmplat în anului 490 î.Hr., răspunsurile celor mai mulți se vor referi la cursa soldatului care, se spune, în urma victoriei atenienilor în lupta de la Marathon, a transmis vestea victoriei alergând de la Marathon la Atena și și-a dat răsuflarea după ce a murmurat „Am învins”. Pentru a cinsti isprava acestui soldat-alergător și legenda sa, care a dus la nașterea maratonului, SEGAS se pregătește, acordând o importanță deosebită și un imens respect acestui eveniment, pentru sărbătorirea celor 2.500 de ani de la Lupta de la Marathon prin ediția a XXVIII-a a Maratonului Clasic de la Atena, care va avea loc în data de 31 octombrie 2010. Pe lângă maraton și alte întreceri de curse din cadrul ediției de anul acesta, la care se așteaptă o participare surprinzătoare, sărbătorirea celor 2.500 de ani reprezintă, totodată, un prilej pentru desfășurarea celei de-a XVIII-a ediții a Congresului Mondial de Maratoane, care va avea loc în perioada 28-30 octombrie 2010, în paralel cu cel de-a IV-lea Simposion de Maratoane AIMS-IAAF. În cadrul sărbătoririi celor 2.500 de ani de la Lupta de la Marathon, SEGAS pregătește deja o mare manifestare, deschisă publicului, cu două zile înainte de întrecerea din 2010, care va fi o adevărată călătorie de 2.500 de ani, în timp și în istorie, un omagiu adus trecutului, având privirea îndreptată spre momentul actual, dar și spre viitorul maratonului. În ceea ce privește înscrierile la ediția a XVIII-a a Maratonului Clasic din Atena, Comisia organizatorică a întrecerii a decis recent limitarea numărului de participanți în funcție de cursă (maraton, cursă de 10 km, cursă de 5km): la maraton vor participa anul acesta 12.000 de alergători, în timp ce la cursele de 5 și 10 km, vor lua parte 3.500 și, respectiv, 4.500 de alergători. Perioada de înscrieri a început la data de 10 martie 2010 și, dat fiind interesul sporit, le este recomandat tuturor doritorilor să purceadă din timp la înscrierea lor. Perioada de înscriere se va încheia odată ce vor fi atinse limitele precizate mai sus, nefiind acceptată nici o altă înscriere în plus.
